Don’t make any major decisions when you are HALTS – Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired, Stressed.
I got this acronym from a client and added the S. I find it so useful to remind myself that when I lose connection with the present moment, I’m less prone to make mindful decisions – even though I’d always like to believe the contrary, but it comes with the reptilian brain activation.
When we become familiar with what disconnects us from the present moment, it’s easier to detect the triggers before we get stuck and reactive.
What disconnects you from the present moment?
I reconnect most easily in nature and around animals. I also often stay in silence whole days, which brings me back to myself.
What connects you to presence? Is it stillness? Nature? Breathing? Sleeping? Silence? Joy? Being listened to? What?
